Manidoo-giizhikensThe Spirit Little Cedar Tree
For more than three centuries, a single gnarled white cedar has clung to the rock at the edge of Gichigami β Lake Superior β watching over the waters and the people who cross them. Known to the Ojibwe as Manidoo-giizhikens and to outsiders as the “Witch Tree,” it remains a living place of prayer for the Grand Portage Band.
