The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
The Spirit Little Cedar Tree stands on the lands and waters cared for by the Grand Portage Band. The Band's seal and flag carry the meaning of the people, the land, and the lake.

The meaning of the seal
- Turtle — Turtle Island, the center of the universe for the Anishinaabe.
- Arrow — hunting and subsistence, the survival of the Grand Portage people.
- Caribou — the Caribou Clan, to which many Grand Portage members belong.
- Pipe — a sacred emblem of peace; the offering of tobacco and spiritual practice.
The flag's colors
- Green — the land and the forest
- Blue — Lake Superior, water and sky
- White — the moon
- Yellow — the sun
The circle is the Circle of Life; the four white lines mark the Four Directions.
