Where the Spirit Tree Stands

The cedar grows at the tip of Hat Point, on Lake Superior's northwest shore. The exact site is sacred ground with restricted access — this map shows the area and nearby places to learn the history respectfully.

Please note. The Spirit Tree site is closed to the public and may only be visited with a member of the Grand Portage Band. The marker below shows the general area of Hat Point — please do not attempt to reach the tree on your own.
